I have always harboured a dream of making my self a customised diary.
I even acquired a bright yellow A5 zipped ring binder that ought to have held baseball cards, and a rough idea of how the interior will be split into sections that are currently separate books.
But the thought of printing out all the pages, at the library, and getting them to fit an A4 sheet two up, with the back printed too, and the right way up, ready to cut at home, is very daunting

Life in August 2024: A house with each room covered in mirrors, on the rapidly eroding coast. I find myself wanting to be outside where I can retreat to where I used to be. I know it's nostalgia, but it works. It's "the luxury of being who you were before."

Entry 1: I lost my job last Friday and this is the first day that I'm home and it feels like I shouldn't I spent a few hours on IT classes a couple hours playing Warframe and First Descendants (basically the same) went shopping w/ the kid and now we're watching Shazam while I apply for jobs... this feels weird. Like I lack some kind of intrinsic value. Even tho I signed up for unemployment it's still scary to not be making money directly. Gonna do some work on overlays for a stream

I really wish I could get into the habit of journaling. I get caught up in the 'what to use' that I freeze. I just need to accept that what I want doesn't exist and find the one that will fill the gap until the perfect solution is created.
What I wish existed:

I'm currently using Obsidian, which only meets a couple of these criteria.

Hey, I just upgraded from Ryzen 1200 to Ryzen 5 5600 and I am it. I want to share this with someone!!

I am a little worried about thermals because I used Wraith coolers pre-applied thermal paste.

The 6 core upgrade is looking to be the best upgrade for my desktop.

Did something radical: I am going back to using a . If my is only on my Mac and phone I cannot flick through physical pages, which makes me lose my sense of periods of time. Using a paper diary is quicker and I reduce my use of , which will be a small advantage.

I purchased Borderlands 2 and Ghost Recon bundle during Steam sale. I am liking Borderlands but Ghost Recon was a bust. I didnt like the premise nor the gameplay.

So I got like 8 GR games but I only played one for 2.1 hours. Steam just confirmed the refund.

I will patiently wait for a good deal to buy stuff. Any recommendations I like RPG with a good story, colony sims, city builder types, open world action games, that sort of thing.

I also like Grim Dawn - its like Diablo game but so much fun

Theres an open issue on Arch Gitlab where someones bisecting the kernel for similar issue.

I have an old Gigabyte AB350M Gaming motherboard paired with Ryzen 3 1200 (I paid a hefty price for being 1st gen Ryzen user) and till yesterday I faced a very weird issue when booting Linux.

I tried to wipe Win11 and install Manjaro but it never booted to installer. The boot hangs very early, not even Welcome to Manjaro Linux text. I have 1050Ti card (theres no integrated graphics) btw.

After googling stuff, I tried nomodeset, nouveau.modeset=0 and others to no avail.

I also tried EndeavourOS but it also didnt work.

I tried because it usually is very stable and I had a hunch it was Linux 6.9 being broken. So when it booted successfully, I installed PopOS on it with 6.8 kernel which doesnt have a problem.
When I switch to 6.9 kernel on Pop (system updates), it too stops booting just like the rest.

The fix for 6.9 was using amdiommu=off which I found when I searched for Ryzen 3 1200 linux boot.

It led me to some obscure forum which had the answer in the last post (I owe you one).

Getting anxious about time and schedule. Got crafting, gaming, organizing, gifting, and a doctor's appointment to attend. Just a lot of things to do.

I have found that the instrument I'm playing brings out certain personality aspects, some of which seem alien at first until I settle in with the character. When I'm playing the bass I sometimes feel like I'm a dancer, and the dancer in me must feel free to express itself for the sake of a good performance. One of the things I loved about David Bowie was characterization. I've never seen him play bass publicly, but he certainly could have with the right character and look. The choice of instrument is a part of the package.

And the next couple of weeks are done! :daw00t: All ready for our trip, now.
