Journal Week 39, September 2025

Monday was a relaxing day, as in that I had no appointments that day. I went to the gym, walked the galls several times, and tried to relax as best as I could. Tuesday I had my physio appointment and on the way home, I stopped at Lidl. Wednesday, if all went well, the galls would be picked up in the afternoon. Also, the gift I ordered for two good friends, in memory of Arwen, would be arriving this day. Thursday, mum and I went to Germany. When I got back home, I was just so exhausted. So, after a while, I just went to bed a little earlier. If I needed the sleep... Friday I tried to relax. I did a few needed chores, I enjoyed some gaming, I managed a wee bit of exercizing and I went to bed early again. I tried to relax as much as I could during the weekend. I was annoyed with myself for not being able to start exercing more and better. I want to improve, but it seems I just won't do the needed work for it. So that made me feel rather blh a lot, which I didn't particulary like... They predict a colder week, but it shoud be dry more often. Next week they expect higher temperatures again. I would not mind them being right about that... Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Journal Week 38, September 2025

On Monday, I got my Covid boost jab. In the afternoon, two friends were bringing their choccy galls. I would be doggy sitting for them for about 12 days, so they could go on a well deserved vacation. I was very anxious about this, both for emotional and physical reasons. Tuesday I had my physio appointment. And of course the first full day with the galls. Wednesday had no appointments, so it was mostly relaxing with the galls, and of course walkies with the galls as well... Thursday was a very long and busy day, followed by a short night. Fortunately, Friday was a day without appointments as well, so I had the chance to relax and enjoy my time with the galls. Even though it was also a hard day, cause it's been 13 weeks and it still hurts like crazy... The weekend, I tried to relax as much as the galls allowed me to, and I enjoyed a little bit of No Man's Sky. On Sunday, I got joined by a sweet friend, which was a very welcome surprise. Colder days, wet days (and nights as well), some (very) windy days and maybe a few warmer ones as well... This week promises a lot of different types of weather... Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

The Greenland Diaries: Day 24

I heard them last night. They came inside my house. It took the monsters two days to trace the hospital back to me. For Gerald, it was sooner. Since Ive moved behind the wall, I havent been able to hear much.

Last night, they wanted me to notice. They wanted me to know they were there.

I spent the morning breaking into another house. It was tall, white, and partially boarded up along the windows with plywood. Gerald told me not to go in that one. He said that people had been living there after the Drum. The door was torn off just like mine.

Ive noticed hes had a harder time going inside houses and pillaging. Why has it gotten easier for me

Inside the house it was the same scene. Smashed furniture, torn walls, and bloodied carpet. Snowy started sniffing a door in the entryway. There was crying and someone talking. Snowy started scratching on the door and whining. Someone yelled, Leave us alone, there is no food here. It sounded like a little girl. They mustve stayed hidden when the monsters realized the boards were up on the house. Their parents mustve been killed hiding their children. If my neighbor hadnt made the mistake of boarding up his house, I wouldve done that too.

I left a few cans of food outside the door.

Gerald and I once again spent the rest of the evening talking about the monsters. I hope this doesnt turn out to be a routine. I cant focus on them this much. They already dictate everything I do. I feel so much rage. Im powerless. Everything I know is gone, like it was a half-awakened dream. The type where you wake up in the morning and cant tell reality from the dream you were having.

I havent written that much about me since Ive started writing in this memo pad. Before the Drum I was a bank teller, a boyfriend, a son, and a friend. Now Im just a survivor, a pillager, a coward who hides from nearly invisible monsters. My dog whines at me sometimes. She has food and water.

I dont know what she wants from me.

The latest issue of my free newsletter, Shipping News, is out now. In this issue, magpie season in Melbourne, my diary setup for 2026, the online etomology dictionary and TVs Professor T.

Learning the is tough. I cant switch between chords either on same fret or a few frets over fast enough.

When I do switch, I mute some strings because of fat fingers.
