i am obsessed with journaling.
Another Keith Haring entry and song idea. The R&B feel might be wrong, but he was into the Grateful Dead.

Sitting at the library today. Someone moved my favorite table so that the sun hits my laptop screen and now it is my least favorite table. I cant see the screen.
Under normal circumstances, you cant see how filthy my laptop it. Absolutely disgusting. I dont want to see this,Now Im in such a bad mood I dont even know how to talk about anything else. I moved my chair to the old location of the table and have my laptop on MY LAP like, it is some kind of laptop The audacity. Im trying to be funny but really Im fuming. My hormones are wilding, and honestly, nothing puts me in a worse mood than the sun. Shining all over everything, so bright and hot. I hate it.
Hates a strong word, Betty. I hate Nazis. I have an ex-wife she bothers me.
I tried to find a gif of this scene from Mad Men, but its incredible how bad internet search engines have gotten. Garbage, Woof, my mood, amirite
Haha okay okay, what else do I know this week Surely I have something nice to say. I have been hyper-focusing on bad things, for sure. Plumbing problems and weird interactions I had on the internet over a decade ago, everything bad that is happening every single day, and of course, the loathsome sunshine. I should make a list of good things.
That worked, Im a bit less angry at the literal Sun for its very existence. Thanks for being here, wordpress journal. Next week I will doubtless be in a better mood and maybe someone less terrified of being annoying to their fellow library patrons will have dragged this big table back to the good spot.
Current Mood: Rubbish, but trying

Christmas in May
Deliberately "bent" my line stamps on the right-hand page there I feel like I levelled up. :O
5/9/1969, Friday: Beatles at Olympic: mixing on Get Back amid fractious business meetings. Paul (now as "Paul Ramon") relieved the tension by recording a song through the night with Steve Miller. Paul contributed drums, bass and backing vocals while Miller sang lead and played all the other instruments.
TIL: You need to add your $USER to operator group in order to shutdown/reboot using wlogout.
You can also set suid bit for the programs manually but I felt adding to group was better.
It turns out pamxdg will set appropriate XDGRUNTIMEDIR as needed.
When I installed this pkg for sddm login, I simply deleted my shell script and commented out xorg code which triggered it.
In my BSD adventures, I have been running a custom kernel in an attempt to improve acpiasus by looking at Linux kernel.
I understand not wanting to use GPL code in BSD land but that functionality makes basic things like volume control keys to work.
I am looking for functionality right now rather than code so I wont try to upstream my changes.

Just finished reading: The Motorcycle Diaries by Ernesto Guevara (2021 edition)
The diary of Che Guevara's journey to discover the continent of Latin America while still a medical student, in 1952 on a vintage Norton motorcycle with his friend Alberto Granado, a biochemist. It captures the exuberance and joy of one person's youthful belief in the possibilities of humankind tending towards justice, peace and happiness.
I finally managed to migrate over to in .
It turns out I was missing pamxdg package. LightDM would not allow me to switch tty after logging in. SDDM is fine with it though :)
I also learned about devd and configured it for laptop lid close event. It was easier than I thought.
I need to setup auto switching to headphones. Manually changing it via pavucontrol is terrible.
btw I am looking for wifi & BT GUI to setup stuff when needed.
The +17% mood boost on days when I get to ride is absolutely real, by the way
Made the most stupidest possible mistake today.
I tried shrinking NTFS partition on Linux. Its been more than 6 hours and the damn thing hasnt finished yet.
I lost patience and cancelled it around 5 hour mark but apparently I gotta wait for geometry for partition thing to finish before it can be cancelled.
*insert rage meme here*
Oh btw I need the new partition so I can clone FreeBSD kernel and compile my own.
For the entire month of April the routine was do carve a song out of the diary entries, and would only be for one month. Routines are hard to break! I couldn't resist this one because it's a song whose lyrics come from song titles or lines from songs. I'm not sure if it's plagiaristic or clever parody, but I would argue it's the latter. They are "cameos", as well as an ironic juxtaposition between war (Anne Frank) and postwar Beatles.
An update to $XDGRUNTIMEDIR series.
The other say I logged in lightdm and was greeted with a black screen.
When I tried running Hyprland in TTY, it crashed again.
Th log was yapping about WlBackend is null. Last time, this was due to missing XDG runtime dir env variable.
This time, it turns out the user/1001 directory is now owned by lightdm. It was previously owned by user.
The fix was to add the non-root user to lightdm group. Not sure if thats safe.
Birb diary sketches
Keith Haring entry 4/29/1977
I checked to see if both directories were symlinks and they were not.
So, I went back to TTY, stopped lightdm, updated my incorrect /run/user/$UID to lightdm one and BINGO!!
The poor thing was trying to find compositor from an old socket file.
Lets see what comes next!
First week of May. Sorry for the photo quality, this shimmery green stamp ink is hard to photograph. :dasweat:
So I have been very very unsuccessful in setting up SDDM but I got lucky with LightDM
As it turns out I still need to learn how to enable Wayland support.
Yesterday I learned I had to kldload amdgpu for my AMD iGPU to kick in.
This is a new journey as a FreeBSD beginner with some Linux knowledge
A big shoutout to freebsd-wifibox developer for making it possible for me to use WiFi on my laptop in FreeBSD 14
I love you with all my heart
Today's riff is derived from two entries, one going back to 2002 with the release of Mullholland Drive, one of my favorite films. Lynch reminds you that filmmaking is an art no different from making abstract paintings. The tune would be more of a "vintage" rocker. It's interesting that the girl in the diner is a "would-be" silhouette, suggesting that she could be a silhouetted figure in a Roger Brown painting.
May done! The first week of May next. :daphew:
:hearttrans:
4/24/1997: Ordered 56K modem. Will increase surfing speed x4.
This was a major increase in modem speed. The computer was a Dell Pentium 90, with 8MB of RAM and a 14.4K modem. (Could we go back to using a "dial-up" connection when no one's really dialing) You might want a slow lane that costs more to prevent spending too much time on the internet. We think it's social media that's addictive, but it's actually the internet.)
DiaryGood morning mastofriends! My diary apps todays prompt is what are my thoughts on growing older Well, my thoughts get really jumbled and quickly forgotten in the process of growing older, so I am not able to answer that.
Catching up on a couple weeks of layouts. Been falling behind on journal stuff lately, trying not to beat myself up about it, and just get on with it. I really like how the black and purple spread came out!
Today's sonic abstraction, "The Hidden Track", with snips from diary entries for 4/21.
