Journal Week 4, January 2026

Another week with the lovely Bas in my home. I had my physio twice this week, and I hope that Bas didn't howl all the time that I was out... He was quiet when I got back, but I don't know for how long... On Wednesday, mum and I went to Germany for groceries. On Wednesday eve, I went to my parents again. Helped dad with some things, and one thing didn't go through... But that got rescheduled to Friday eve. And then, we (I say we, but it was all him ) were finally be able to fix the stuff we'd been working on for a while now... The weekend was fairly quiet, but I felt a bit blh, so I took it as easy as I could with reading, wtching TV, and getting a few chores done. Some sunnier days, not too warm, around freezing during the nights. If we really get this weather for this week, I guess it will be a decent week for sure, weather wise, at least.Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

I really like following hashtags in Mastodon. Theres real gems hidden in them.

i just wish we could combine multiple hashtags to follow so I get posts on very specific topics.

Good morning. Well, look at that: Irene Caroldi has remarried. The screws are old, but the sign is new. That would be husband number 5, if I'm not mistaken. Greetings, Mafalda Cinquetti from Venice.

Yesterday lunch I didnt take a photo, but had falafels and salad again but with a tortilla this time.

Yesterday dinner, beef mince was finally on special again this week so I cooked a big batch of inspired beef and bean mince and served it with tortillas and salad. Freezing the rest.

This morning breakfast, my family decided to make eggs and beans, so I had some on savoury porridge. I prepare my savoury porridge with water, soy sauce and sesame oil, then I topped it with scrambled egg, baked beans, and spinach (if you had kimchi or sauerkraut that would be perfect). I couldnt finish the bowl and was full till lunch time.

Today lunch I put together all the leftover salad scraps in the fridge and put tinned tuna, vinaigrette and kewpie mayo on it.

So dinner tonight will be my final reduced calorie meal of the week. I shall be having BBQ steak and salads. (Better go make it)

Good morning. The old Bacaro on Campo Santi Apostoli has closed down. The owner went to elementary school with me in Murano. He's not old enough to retire! Best regards, Mafalda Cinquetti from

Journal Week 3, January 2026

Well, what a week! I knew it would be a busy week, but I didn't know that it would be this weird in so many ways. Finally being able to visit the gym and PT. Helping mum prepare the groceries before her surgery. Taking Bas home. Dad trying to get some attention, in his way... Trying to help dad, trying to help mum, stressing because comunication isn't always their strongest suit, and last-minute things are stressful in so many ways... I did my best to cope, and this is how this weird week went... Well, at least the snow and ice had sodded off! There was some rain, but that's not as bad as all the slippery stuff on the roads... Well, the temperatures are finally going back up again, which will mean that the snow and ice will finally go away... Not without making a mess of things first, of course... But, instead of snow and ice, we're getting a lot of rain, according to this forecast. Still, I guess it's better than the snow and ice, at least I can drive Skoosh again, and safely walk with Bas when he's here. I am making time for project again. It had stalled for sometime due to other commitments.

Today, I learned C++ and Qt lifetimes, the advantages of member initializer lists. I still have one more issue to fix w.r.t this topic but I will hold it off a little longer, switching my focus on adding features.

Journal Week 2, January 2026

Well, that second week, the first full one of 2026, became a snowy mess! We started to be bothered by snow the previous weekend, and this week, it only got worse. I could not go out with Skoosh, as I didn't want to risk damaging her in the crazy weather conditions. So, I have been doing all my exercises at home, the ones I could do there, that is. I have visited the supermarket a few times on foot, all very challenging. And I listened to a lot of "water" with the MyNoise app, to try and calm my mind. My brain was not dealing too well with the break of routine. I had some decent nights, but also some very bad ones. I can't wait for the snow to sod off... I know next week will be different as well, as I will be taking Bas home on Wednesday then, due to mum's surgery on Thursday. So... This week was cold and shitty, but I still did my best to make it through OK enough... Snow, cold, snow... Ugh... Can't the effing snow just sod off and give me back my normal routine again! Puh-leeze! Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday.
