As part of a new campaign, David Hockney is encouraging the nation to get drawing
I've been considering to start my own diary for a long time, but didn't do it because of lack of time, and because I'm lazy lol
But today I started it anyways, and I was surprised how much thoughts came into my head for writing down. It was a pretty good feeling to give out today's anxiety, and also to summarize what happened, and also writing down which I don't want to post publicly
I tried out a few diary apps, and found Mini Diary, which is discontinued but can still be downloaded from the repo:
Ok so I impulsively purchased an Acer Nitro 1440p monitor just now and its going to be delivered by Saturday.
I am excited and nervous about this purchase because I got them via EMI on Credit Card.
Had all my stuff I couldn't put in my car stolen from me in the Palisades Fire: incinerated to a crisp (no doubt by arsonists and saboteurs). But Airbnb will refund me what I already paid for my rental: $30,000.
And it's looking like my great-grandmother never naturalized as a US citizen and so I might be eligible for Italian citizenship by descent after all.
So maybe my luck is changing...I can only hope.
I am mesmerised by the graphics in Tomb Raider 2013. It is such a beautiful game, some sections remind me of TLOU especially the stealth aspects.
I just finished 10% acc. to my save game so theres a lot to explore.

27/12/2024I finally started a new one!
My (first) old 5-year diary went from 2019 till 2023 - actually a really good timespan to write a diary in.
But I got really sloppy and lazy halfway through.
This is a new attempt!
DiaryIm playing Catacombs level at Metro Last Light and it made think of that question, If given a choice what fictional world would you like to be a part of and now I know I NEVER EVER want to be a part of Metro world.
These hounds can do a number on you esp. in higher difficulty and it is too dark and kinda scary if Im being honest.

Let me remind you of an old feature in PulseAudio which is thankfully set to disabled by default.
This feature was causing the volume of my headset & speakers to be set from 25% to 100% every time a desktop notification pops up.
Lets say Im listening to music and I set the volume to 25% for my headset. A short while later, a notification popped up on the bottom-right of my screen (I use KDE btw) and the song suddenly starts playing at 100% volume.
This hurt my ears the first time it happened. Luckily there was no permanent damage but it made me worry enough that I spend some time researching the cause and fix.
After couple of hours, I discovered flat-volume feature in PulseAudio was the problem. This silly feature was enabled by default and so it kept changing volume of output device acc to audio device whether its desktop notification or a websites stupid popup video ad autoplaying without my permission.
I wrote a strongly worded txt file back then that goes into detail.
The fix is to set flat-volumes = no inside /etc/pulse/daemon.conf and restart the system.
