Another mixed week, both health wise, pain wise, sleep wise, and everything else wise... There were some good moments, and a few that were disappointing or hurtful. Some bad dreams have been haunting me, but... Koa also allowed me a few nights with some OK sleep (when my dreams allowed it as well). The weather had its ups and downs again. It's really going from summer to autumn at times, with some warmer, sunny days, but also some windy, more moist, days. Sometimes, the days felt OK, and I managed to do some stuff. Other days, I felt like I was on survival mode, just keeping it going until it was time to go back to bed again. I've felt bad about this at times, especially towards Koa, as he deserves someone with more energy to keep up with him. I want to be that person, and I know I need to become that person again. But, I need my right hand, and my back, to recover more. And then, when my body is ready, my mind needs to "flip the switch", and start working on the more physical part of my recovery: to get my strength and stamina back. I miss the Cynni that used to be able to go on walks with Arwen for several hours at a go. Heck, I don't want to be unkind towards Koa, but I still miss my gall too. Koa and I are working on becoming a better team together every day. He is doing a great job. Now, it's up to me to stay on my exercises for my hand. And, when I can, to start going on longer walks with Koa, and hopefully picking up some cardio exercises at home again. But, that's still, hopefully, part of my (near) future... Which does make it so important for me to have good days (and nights). The Blhaj child
Our life has changed quite a lot since the beginning of the year and Im finally ready (and also allowed) to talk about it. Its a bit of a story, so I posted it on my blog as that is my personal space (as opposed to Facebook or other social media sites that can delete our stuff at any time).
Our child told me some time ago that he was not who we always thought he was and that he didnt want to live his life like that going forward.
I always thought he was an easy teenager (no big mood swings, doing well in school, no alcohol, no drugs, getting up and sleeping early, mostly disinterested in fashion) but somewhat socially awkward and maybe something stewing in him because of that awkwardness. But all of this could be explained away with our move from England to Germany, with him having to adapt to a slightly different culture and also catching up on language competency.
Three years ago he had made up his mind, finally understanding what was different about him and why life was so weird and painful for him, and he opened up about it. He told me that he was born in the wrong body and that he wanted to go on living as a woman. This really surprised me, I had no clue, but its not an issue for me, my child is my child, be it boy or girl, I just want my child to thrive.
From now on we are changing pronouns (but I will not reveal her new name here).
She said she was trying very hard to hide any signs ever since she knew something was different (that started with puberty at age 11/12) and she only really understood quite some time later what was really going on. So there we were.
She told her father about a year later, equally no issue.
During that time she was still dithering to a degree, like many Trans fem people she was giving it one last go to feel alright in the male body that she was given by exercising and getting muscles but alas that didnt work at all. After school was finished she started uni but got progressively depressed until she finally took the first steps to do something about transitioning at the end of last year. She needed to find a counsellor to get a medical indication that would allow her to start with hormones. In the end this worked out much faster than expected (going the private route) and in May she was able to begin with HRT (hormone replacement therapy).
During the course of the year, we slowly started telling more people. Luckily so far everyone has been positive about what is happening.
Physical changes will take time but mentally there was an immediate improvement. There are still ups and downs but shes coming out of her shell. Shes still at uni but decided to change from mechanical engineering to information technology. When a great opportunity suddenly came up to share a flat with another Trans fem person, she decided to do that. We agreed as young people have to start living their own life at some point. Luckily the flat is not far away at all.
So now my husband and I are on our own. The first week of that was terrible for me, I cried every time I needed to do something about food as we always had lunch and dinner together and I miss her so very much but Im finally getting to grips with things. I helped my girl with her move and building her furniture. Seeing her new room come together made me feel better. Of course, we also have a spare room now that Im able to slowly change into a guest bedroom/office/craft room, something Ive wanted for a long time, so I have something to occupy my mind.
I am really looking forward to getting to know my daughter better, finally I will get to see what she felt she had to hide for such a long time. All I want for her is that she is happy with herself!

What a week... It sure had some ups, and quite a few deep downs. Just feels like I can't keep up anymore. It's getting harder to keep going. I'm just so terribly exhausted. My body just won't stop hurting. And whenever something finally feels like it's getting a wee bit better, something else is going to hell and dragging me with it... I want to do right by Koa, but I feel like I am failing on him, and on myself all the time. It's getting harder to be social, both online and offline. My body is hurting so much. My tinnitus is making me nuts at times. I'm all out of spoons, and all the other cutlery seems to have been stolen as well. Just trying to keep going on, hoping for good things to start happening. I need better sleep. I need less pain. I need more strength and energy, so I can provide Koa with what he needs... But, it wasn't happening this week... It was yet another very mixed week. The weather went into all sorts of directions. Sunny, wet, windy, chilly... Well, my days went into all sorts of directions as well. On Monday, there was a difficult chat with my coach, but fortunately, a sweet friend came over to support me with it. Which was a very good thing, as she was able to explain some things way better than I could... Tuesday was physio day. On Wednesday, we had an easy day, where I tried to relax a bit. Thursday afternoon, mum came over, so that I could take a sleeping pill, so I could finally get a few hours of sleep. Mum spent the night, and in the morning, we went to the hospital for my therapy. Things didn't go too well with Koa, so that was a cause of some more stress. I had loads of stuggles, trying to get a few hours of sleep. On Sunday, a sweet friend came by, and the three of us went to the Herperduin. Which was very nice, but when we got back, I was super exhausted... So, of course I had troubles with my sleep again...
